Please email Mary Wilfert in Education Outreach at mwilfert@ncaa.org for the application form or if you have questions regarding the Speakers Grant Program or by calling 317/917-6319.

**NCAA GRANT IS $500

Any NCAA active member institution or conference is eligible to apply for drug-education grants that partially or fully fund speaker fees for athletics department drug-education and/or wellness programs. The following criteria have been established for eligibility for such grants.

1. Funding is available only to active NCAA member institutions or conferences.

2. Grant funds are to be used for speaker fees not to exceed $1000 per academic year (August 1 through July 31) per institution or conference-administered program. Speakers grant funds cannot be used for travel, lodging or other non-fee expenses.

3. The event for which funding is requested must be part of a drug-education or wellness program for student-athletes and/or athletics personnel. (We ask that the NCAA be mentioned as a sponsor of your program.)

4. To be considered for funding, an NCAA Speakers Grant Application must be received by NCAA Health and Safety no later than September 1, for the fall term, no later than January 15, for the winter term and and no later than June 1, for the summer term. Immediately after the deadline dates, applications will be reviewed. Preference will be given to those institutions that meet the grant requirements, and on a first-come, first-served basis. Those receiving grants will be sent written confirmation as well as an evaluation form that is to be completed after the speaker's program. Those not meeting the requirements will be notified.

5. The speaker(s) should be chosen by the institution or conference.

6. The NCAA Health and Safety Speakers Grant is available to use for presentations from experts who cover one or more of the five approved topics:
· Alcohol and other drugs/addictions (including gambling)
· Nutrition
· Hazing prevention
· Stress Management (including mental health)
· Sexual Health (including sexual assault prevention and GLBT issues)

7. For the release of grant funds, the grant requester must complete and submit to NCAA Health and Safety an evaluation form, which will be included with the approval letter.

8. Now, upon receipt of the completed evaluation, the NCAA will issue the payment to the school, rather than the speaker. It will be made either through direct deposit - if that arrangement has been made with the NCAA - or a check will be sent to the Director of Athletics.

Go to NCAA.com Click on this link to find out how.

For more information regarding the speakers grant, go to www.ncaa.org/health-safety and click on the "H & S Speakers Grants" link on the right side. There you will find the most recent forms, approved speakers listing and updated information about the $500 payment that will be issued to the institution rather than to the speaker.
